Gehry meets fashion

Probabilmente molti di voi non conosceranno l'architetto Frank O. Gehry, ma avranno sicuramente presente alcune delle sue opere che ormai sono diventate un simbolo per molte città di tutto il mondo, prima fra tutte il museo Guggenheim di Bilbao.

Bene, alzi la mano chi non ha mai visto nulla di suo (anche se solo sfogliando una rivista o alla televisione)?
La sua fama, nata dallo stile inconfondibile dell'unione fra forme amorfe e l'uso di rivestimenti metallici (in primis il titanio), è talmente grande da essere stato omaggiato addirittura all'interno di una delle serie cartoni più famose ed irriverenti al mondo, i Simpson!

Nel 2007 (se non erro) la famosissima gioielleria Newyorkese TIFFANY&co ha chiesto all'architetto una collaborazione per una linea design, dal carattere decustruttivista, dove le forme degli edifici dell'architetto Canadese si ritrovano ora "miniaturizzate" in anelli, bracciali e collane. In the 2007 (if I remember correctly) the world-famous jeweler Tiffany & Co asked the architect collaborating to design a line, with character decustrutism, where the shapes of the buildings that will meet in the Canadian architect's work now are "miniature" in rings, bracelets and necklaces. Nel 2006 è stato invece incaricato dal collezionista Bernard Arnault 

come progettista del nuovo spazio della Fondation Louis-Vuitton Pour la Création a Parigi, dedicato all’arte contemporanea, che verrà realizzato nello spazio urbano del Bois de Boulogne, nei Jardin d'acclimatation.

L'edificio, che sarà pronto nel 2013, assume per Gehry l'immagine di una nuvola, ribattezzato subito The Cloud è quello che per l'architetto, ormai 81enne, esprimeva nelle parole del documentario "Il creatore di sogni" di S. Pollack del '06:
«Si è sempre titubanti prima di spiccare il volo, ma quando lo hai provato una volta non ti fermi più»
